Legal Wins in Orange County Business and Real Estate Disputes

High-Stakes Verdicts

Over thirty-five verdicts and judgments in OC Superior Court, including a $35 million loan defense, a $12 million Ponzi scheme recovery, and more.

GGB has an impressive record securing over thirty-five jury verdicts and court judgments in the Orange County Superior Court, spanning a variety of business and real estate disputes. These cases highlight our expertise and commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for our clients.

One notable success involved the defense of the Teachers Retirement System of the State of Illinois against claims it breached a $35 million loan commitment to purchase the Buena Park Shopping Mall. The trial, overseen by the Hon. Ray Ikola, resulted in a favorable judgment for our client, which was subsequently affirmed on appeal.

In another case, we obtained a defense verdict on behalf of an Orange County developer, who was sued by a large statewide brokerage firm for $2.5 million. The seven-day jury trial showcased our capabilities in many areas of high-stakes litigation.

Our firm also successfully recovered over $12 million, plus an additional $2 million in punitive damages, on behalf of 89 elderly investors in a 55-day jury trial against a statewide fraudulent Ponzi scheme orchestrated by Dan Harkey and his entities, Point Center and National Financial Lending.

Additionally, we defended a public company, its subsidiary, and its directors against a qui tam plaintiff (defending against whistleblower claims) under the Insurance Code, who alleged false and fraudulent insurance claims with potential exposure of over $100 million. After a three-week bench trial before Judge Craig Griffin, the court found in favor of all defendants, dismissing the claims.
