

Abigail R. Thompson is an associate attorney at Grant, Genovese & Baratta, joining the firm’s insurance litigation department in June 2025. Ms. Thompson received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis on Law & Society from California State University, Northridge, along with a minor in Africana Studies, in 2017. She graduated with honors and was recognized on the Dean’s List multiple semesters. While there, she was involved in several organizations and held an active leadership role in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) University chapter. Ms. Thompson hosted several student body gatherings and off-campus events in Sacramento, California, to discuss the prevalent social determents affecting minority and lower-socio-economic communities across the country.
Upon graduation, Ms. Thompson earned her Juris Doctor from the University of La Verne College of Law, where she graduated top of her class and demonstrated a deep commitment to academic excellence and legal scholarship. During law school, she served as a Senior Staff Editor of the Law Review, held a leadership role as a Board Member of the Journal of Law & Business Ethics, and was elected to leadership positions in the Black Law Student Association. Ms. Thompson was also recognized for her academic excellence by making the Dean’s List for consecutive semesters and was also a two-time recipient of prestigious merit-based scholarships, including the Dean’s Law Scholarship and the Paul Egly Scholarship. Her academic interests culminated in a capstone project exploring the impact of social determinants on healthcare equity in the United States—a reflection of her dedication to public service and justice.
Ms. Thompson is certified in both Advanced Legal Research and in Mediation & Arbitration. Ms. Thompson is known for her diligence, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and collaborative approach, and is committed to delivering efficient and results-driven legal advocacy and defense for her clients in complex civil litigation matters.
Ms. Thompson has a strong background in civil litigation, healthcare law, and contract preparation. Prior to joining Grant, Genovese & Baratta, Ms. Thompson gained valuable legal experience supporting in-house counsel at a nationally recognized health plan, assisting with matters involving contract disputes, employment issues, healthcare compliance, and regulatory liability. She also worked in both civil defense and estate planning practices, where she developed practical skills in litigation, discovery coordination, and drafting complex legal documents, including full estate plans and trust administration instruments for clients.
