Christopher M. LekawaBIO

Christopher M. Lekawa’s practice focuses on business transactional law, including general business, real estate purchase and sale, and corporate entity formation. Furthermore, Mr. Lekawa represents buyers, sellers, target companies and their shareholders in M&A transactions, including negotiated acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, and stock purchase and sale transactions.

When a merger or acquisition is accompanied by financing transactions (usually to either finance the acquisition itself or to provide the combined company with adequate working capital), Mr. Lekawa frequently assists the buyer or merger partner to negotiate and obtain such financing, either through a credit facility or equity financing from a strategic partner, venture capital fund, or other funding source.

Moreover, Mr. Lekawa assists in the “due diligence” investigation of the opposite party where appropriate to identify potential or actual problems with its business, management or ability to complete the transaction and to satisfy applicable law requirements.

Prior to joining Grant, Genovese & Baratta, Mr. Lekawa served as a certified law clerk for the Honorable Kimberly Menninger of the Superior Court of Orange County, as well as the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and lastly, the Whittier Law School’s Family Violence Clinic. In addition, Mr. Lekawa has over seven years of finance and business experience within the marine, automotive and power-sports industries of Orange County, which combined with his practice as a business transactional attorney, provides a rather distinctive advantage for his clients.

Mr. Lekawa was selected to the 2015 Southern California Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.
